Description
The Allen-Bradley 1794-IB16 is a Sixteen (16) channel 24VDC Discrete input module. This module is part of the 1794 Flex IO product family which is primarily used to implement distributed IO solution. With distributed I/O architecture, I/O modules may be installed near the source of the signal or the driven load. This significantly reduces cable runs thus, reduces overall installation costs. It also simplifies maintenance and contributes to overall increase in the control system uptime.
The 1794-IB16 support standard DIN rail mounting or direct panel mounting. This module is used with terminal base where signal wirings are terminated. Compatible terminal bases are 1794-TB3, 1794-TB3S, 1794-TB3K, 1794-TB3SK, 1794-TBKD, 1794-TB37DS. Additionally, the1794-IB16 require use of a communication adapter for transferring I/O data to the partner scanner module or controller. Compatible communication adapters are DeviceNet communication adapter with catalog number 1794-ADN, Remote I/O communication adapter with catalog number 1794-ASB, Ethernet communication adapter with catalog number 1794-AENT, Profibus communication adapter with catalog number 1794-APB and ControlNet communication adapter with catalog number 1794-ACN.
The 1794-IB16 has a current draw of 30 mA @ 5V DC. The individual input channels are rated10 to 31.2 VDC with nominal input voltage of 24VDC and supports sink wiring configuration. Each channel has a minimum On-state voltage of 10VDC and maximum of 31.2VDC while the maximum OFF-state voltage is 20VDAC. It has a power dissipation of 3.5 W @ 31.2V DC and Thermal dissipation of 11.9 BTU/hr @ 31.2V DC.
The 1794-IB16 module has 16 current sinking inputs with 24V DC nominal On-State voltage, 10-31.2V DC On-State voltage range, and 1.5mA minimum Off-State current. It has a maximum power dissipation of 6.1W at 31.2V DC. Terminal base units compatible with this module are the 1794-TB3, 1794-TB3S, 1794-TB3K, 1794-TB3SK, 1794-TBKD, 1794-TB37DS.
This module supports DIN rail or panel mounting and supports various communication adapters such as ControlNet, DeviceNet, EtherNet/IP, and Universal Remote I/O. The 1794-IB16 module has 16 yellow LEDs as status indicators for each channel. LEDs indicate corresponding input device and output signal. It also has D and XT versions of standard modules for diagnostics and extreme environments which reduces panel and maintenance costs. It has a 0 – 55 °C (32 – 131 °F) operating temperature and a 5 – 95% noncondensing relative humidity.
